Travel: Marrakesh 2016

#INCREDIBLE

So I am not the best airline passenger. I'm impatient and miserable due to lack of space and consideration from other passengers.
#Knowthyself #Lovethyself
-Note to self...upgrade flights!

Anyway the flight was uncomfortable and as soon as we arrive at Marrakesh airport we're greeted by queue after queue and this does absolutely nothing for my already sour mood...

#LONG!

After what seems like hours and many temper tantrums we finally get to collect our luggage and go to look for our transfer company.

As soon as I felt the Moroccan sun my mood is instantly lifted and I became my bubbly self again...YAY!

We hopped in out transfer car and made our way to our hotel.

We arrived at Kenzi Club Agdal Medina

The hotel was absolutely beautiful and I was very happy to be in Marrakesh!
I had always wanted to go and it finally happened!

*Me with the hotel band*

Every day the hotel provided treats at reception.
I felt like a big kid, excited as to what I'd find.

Our 1st night we decided to enjoy the hotel entertainment and get a few drinks by the pool.
My girl Micky had drawn up an itinerary for us as we only had 5days to squeeze in all we wanted to experience.

Day 1- We booked a tour guide to take us to the souks and show us some of the culture in Marrakesh.
It was brilliant, we learnt about the skills and trade of the locals and even picked up some shopping hints and tips!

#TIP Do not shop if you have no backbone, some of these sellers are relentless!

We learnt how leather merchandise are made, locksmithing and argan oil production.
Very interesting!

Day 2- We decided to visit the YSL memorial gardens and the observatory gardens.
Both were so beautiful, I felt very peaceful in the YSLgardens.
After the gardens we went on a horse and carriage ride around the town, which was also really nice!

Day 3- We booked a dinner in the desert experience which was one of the most incredible experiences ever.
We were dressed in traditional Moroccan attire, adorned in henna and treated to a belly dancing show, of which I decided to join in lool

After the show we had dinner and shisha and as the sun went down the whole thing had me in awe of the stars as they covered the desert like a blanket.
So beautiful!

Day 4- We decided to get some spa treatments before we headed home.
I went for a traditional hammam.
So relaxing, absolute bliss!

On our last day we decided to soak up some serious vitamin D and sit by the pool/bar. This also happened to be the one day I didn't wear sun screen (forgot). I got so burnt I almost didn't recognise myself in the mirror but I love my dark chocolate tan. I now need to re-assess my summer lipsticks as some look quite strange on me now lol

The food was perfect for my diet (pescatarian)
There was always a nice mix of fresh fruit and veg and as you would expect the humble tagine!
I became obsessed with Moroccan tea and really miss out tea man!

All in all I loved Marrakesh and would definitely go back!

TV: The Truth About Healthy Eating (BBC 1)

Last night I had every intention of watching a movie and snuggling up with my 'Chaale' (Monkey teddy bear) but there was nothing to my liking so I began channel flipping.

I came across the BBC 1' documentary 'The truth about healthy eating' and I am very happy to have caught it.

Hosted by the lovely Fiona Phillips, the show investigates all our health fads, claims and products.

I was surprised as to how much I already knew but very pleased to learn new information about our food and drink.

One of the topics covered was about healthy breakfasts and what keeps us fuller for longer.

The three options were...

  1. Bacon and eggs (Grilled/boiled)
  2. Yogurt & Banana
  3. Cereal

If like me you thought it was number 2 or 3 you are also wrong!
The study on the show found that eating bacon and eggs kept the test subjects fuller for longer.

Why?

Because of the high protein content in option 1.
Of course we're all different and results may vary from person to person but this morning (08:30) I had a protein rich breakfast and I must say, compared to my usual oats and berries breakfast I am not reaching for any snacks and it's well after 11:00.
By now I would of at least had some fruit but no, I think I am OK till lunch time (13:00).

So...what was my protein rich breakfast?

x2 fried egg & Honey Salmon flakes

According to the documentary, frying eggs is healthier than scrambled eggs with butter. This is said to be because when you fry an egg, the egg does not absorb the oil. (Who knew?)

I really enjoyed this documentary...Check it out at the link below.

Enjoy x

ASOS FLAVIA Leather Beaded Flatform Sandals
[Asos]
***Flatforms***

Recently, I've found flat shoes to be quite painful and have had to find some comfortable shoes for the summer, if it comes in the UK lol so I decided to go on an online shopping spree I came across the term 'FLATFORMS'.
Personally I had never heard of this but I was very happy to find out they existed as I can no longer walk in flat shoes and heels just aren't my friend.

Flatforms- I understand these to be flat shoes with a platform so they're not flat on the ground and not ridiculously high for those of us who do not like heels.
These feel like walking on cushions, they are so comfortable and perfect for my feet this summer!

I found a few pairs online...check these out!

Health: Colour Therapy

***Colour Therapy***

As you my have guessed I an obsession with the colour orange. It's my favourite colour, taste and smell. I also love how the colour makes me feel.
I find orange warm and sensual!

At a mind, body and spirit festival a few years back, I was introduced to colour therapy which helped to explain why we're drawn colours.

"It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation. To the human eye, orange is a very hot colour, so it gives the sensation of heat. Nevertheless, orange is not as aggressive as red”

Prior to this, I took an online chakra test to find out which of my chakras were over/under active or dormant to aid my spiritual development.
The results weren't really surprising.
You can guess which chakra was my dominant charka....yep the sacral chakra, which is...Orange.

I don't believe in coincidences, so I decided to do a little more research into colour therapy and found that there are specific links to colour, light and energy, which could explain why I like the colour orange so much.
It's fair to say orange is a part of my life now lool I have orange furniture, clothes and crystals and I doubt I will stop there!
Colour therapy is an interesting subject that I am going to learn more about.

What's your favourite colour?
What does your colour mean?
What do the meanings of your colour mean to you?
