Health & Beauty: Lip Balm review

Maybelline BabyLips Lip Balm- Cherry Lips

Growing up my Nan always told me that wearing lipsticks or glosses make your lips wrinkly lool. Because of this tale I have always been cautious with shop bought cosmetics, I mean who wants wrinkly lips?

Anyway, usually I make my own lip balms but last month I went out and forgot my homemade Shea butter, lavender and honey beeswax lip balm so I decided to go and buy a new one.

I'd seen an advert for Maybelline ‘Baby lips lip balm’ and thought I’d give it a go.

I decided to go for the cherry lips shade as I am recently trying lip colours, with today's new “Moisture rich” lip products I feel I am safe from wrinkly lips…well safer than 10/20year ago!

Cherry lips smells nice,  goes on very easily and feels quite nice on but I did notice I was re-applying more often than my homemade lip balm.
It definitely didn’t last 8 hours on me but this may be as I am used to my homemade lip balm which is very moisture rich and after all Maybelline and /or any cosmetics company want customers to continue to buy their products so there is no way they’d make a product you don’t have to buy or use that often, retail is retail and repeat sales are vital.
Baby lips, lip balm is a good idea and is much better than the standard lip balms on the market as it contains moisturising ingredients such as Shea Butter.
As you’ll see below there are a lot of other ingredients that I have no idea how to even pronounce let alone understand and this is why I think I will stick to my homemade lip balms….I know exactly what’s in them :-)

That's a whole lot of ingredients for one little stick of balm???
I'd like to think that most cosmetics contain good ingredients but to be on the safe side I'd aim for products which are as natural as possible. Shoot use a stick of 100% pure organic Shea butter or cocoa butter if need be!
