Health & Beauty: Urban Decay Product Review

As someone who likes to take care of my skin but isn't overly obsessed with make up, I rarely change my staple  beauty regime products; especially my make up brands, so thought I could do with trying something new.

Lately I've been watching beauty tutorials on YouTube to get ideas on different products so that when I do wear make up I can make it look even better. I saw a girl apply a foundation that blended into her skin so amazingly. I HAD to find out what it was.

I watched a couple more videos of people with different skin tones applying and reviewing the foundation and they were saying it was light, smooth and really did feel weightless on the skin, so I came to the conclusion that this could be the one. On Monday after work I took myself down to House Of Fraser to check it out, and see if these ladies were telling the truth.

They WERE! The Sales Adviser at the counter helped me to colour match, turns out I am a shade 11 (they go up to 12 and they have .5 numbers up to shade 7.5).  When she applied it to my skin, it looked so good. She only applied the foundation to one half of my face and the difference, although not drastic, gave a nice even look to my skin and just made my skin look so nice and glowy - if that's even a word. Of course I had to get her to finish my whole face, and I got to feel what the blurring brush I was considering felt like (I think it really helps in achieving such a smooth finish). You know me, of course I got the brush. It would be rude of me not to.

In addition to the Naked Skin foundation and the Blurring brush, the sale adviser threw in a free 15ml bottle of the All Nigheter makeup setting spray (I overheard the previous customer asking about a freebie, so decided to cheekily chime in. If you don't ask you don't get right).

I've worn the foundation for 2 days in a row now and so far I'm loving it. It literally feels like I have nothing on, whilst making me look radiant, and it's pretty long lasting so I don't need to touch it up through the day.  Its good that a little goes a long way and I can get away with using just one pump. The coverage I would say is medium but buildable so if you need more of a full coverage you can just use a bit more to achieve your desired level of coverage.

The brush is so soft and feels like silk on your skin. I was honestly tempted to sit there rubbing it across my face just for the fun of it. I'm not weird (not all the time anyway).

The next purchase for me will probably be the Original Naked eye shadow palette (it's my favorite out of the three). It's a bit pricey though, costing more than the foundation, but the colours are divine and will be mine.

Who knows, maybe Urban Decay will be my go-to make up brand from now on.

Events: Mariah Carey #1toInfinity In Las Vegas

The Queen is BACK! Not that she ever left, but for a moment there I was almost starting to believe she was about to.

Mariah kicked off the first show of her #1ToInfinity residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace last night, and I've heard and seen clips online that suggest Mariah or Mimi (as Me, K and the other Lambs Of The Land sometimes like to affectionately call her) is working hard to get her vocals back on point, following some not so good performances recently, to put on a great show, in true Diva style, like only she knows how.

Lately I must say that you can really feel the presence of her having a new record deal, what with the latest press and promo, and new PR, it looks like her career is being looked after again, and I’m so glad to see Mariah soldiering on and exceeding expectations like this. If only I was in Vegas right now. If any of you are, go check our girl out.

Cool Links- Black Education UK

It's been a number of years since I left school but I still remember my first and only Black/African History lesson in my 2nd year of secondary school/High school.
Our teacher put on a copy of 'Roots(1977)' (VHS), left the room and came back at the end of class. I don't remember her saying a word when she came back to class.
There was no discussion or anything...I barley remember our teachers making any reference to Black/African history throughout my 3years in History classes and this was one of the reasons I didn't choose history for a GCSE.
European history was interesting but I would have liked to learn about my own history and culture from a younger age.

Teaching Black education in schools is so important to inspire, build love of self, knowledge of self, cultural awareness and to instill a strong sense of pride within the Black/African community, especially those in western societies where there are little to no links of our culture or history outside of slavery.

Today, there are more classes, seminars, workshops etc but there is still so much more which can be done..
Thankfully we have some great links...check them out!

The London Schools and the Black Child (LSBC) initiative was founded by Diane Abbott MP. It is aimed at raising achievement levels of Black pupils in London, but also nationwide.

Companies like the 'Black History Studies' are paving the way and providing workshops, film screenings and so much more.

There are many more so get searching and sharing.

Stay Beautiful, Stay blessed!
