Fashion: Petite...Really?

Image result for petite meaning

I am 5ft tall..yes! tall, and curvy...I have lost count the amount of times I have tried on "Petite" range items which make me look like I am wearing my 12 year old nephews clothes...and not in a good way!

For the life of me I cannot understand why the fashion industry haven't caught on to the fact that not all petite women are thin or slim.

I don't fit into plus size and "Average" ranges are either too long or  knees and elbows are in the wrong place and look ridiculous.
I am sure I am not the only one who comes into this category...

Having curves makes a huge difference to the make, cut and fabric of "petite" items.
My butt can makes trousers shorter and my waist is always left out in the cold by the huge waist gap I have when going up a size in jeans...just so they can go over my bum!
Sleeves are always wet as "Average" range items are too long and "petite" ranges do not go over my bust...

Come on...where are the curvy petite brands/designers/manufacturers?

If you know any...please let me know.

In the meantime I'll live in hope that some day...somewhere, someone will make clothes for the curvy petite woman!

I love this time of year!
It's perfect for layering up and hiding all the yummy deliciousness we get to enjoy.
Cosy knits and chunky hats, toasty socks and thick coats...it's glorious.

Fashion: 1 item 3looks

Image result for black culotte

***1item 3looks***

As a self confessed superscrimper, I am all for a bargain and getting the most out of all my purchases...within reason of course!

That being said, when it comes to buying wardrobe basics it's always best to go for good quality items. That way you don't end up buying repeat cheap items and wasting money.

I recently bought a pair of culottes for a client and she is very much like me with regards to frugal living, so 1 item 3 ways is perfect for her and her bank balance!
It's also a great way to add variety to your style with fewer pieces.

Check them out!

Petite & Curvy: Winter Coats (Follow Up)

Petite & Curvy: Winter Coats.. RESULT!

So...After what seems like months of shopping sprees, trying on shed loads of coats in a variety of styles, I finally found the perfect winter coat..in Jan!
So typical.

I seriously under estimated how hard this mission was going to be.
There weren't a lot of styles and lengths to choose from in most stores petite ranges and, as expected, most of those petite ranges DID NOT FACTOR IN CURVES!
So what happened was, I'd get the coat on but the bust &or hip area was not having any of it. There was no way the coat was going to zip/button up.
Most coats I tried drowned me, made me look naked underneath or aged me!

I spent hours on Oxford St, hours in Bluewater & Westfield's and just when I was about to give up and wear blanket scarves all season, then Marks & Spencer saved the day!

Now, remember I said I didn't want a padded coat as they're not tailored very well or flattering and can make us curvy petite ladies look a bit like Michelin man...?

Well I ate my words! And was happy to do so...

Marks and Spencer had a really great range of petite coats in a range of styles but the one that stood out the most for me was the PETITE Padded & Quilted Coat | M&S RRP £79.99

This coat is very well made, super warm and looks great on!
The padding is not all one style which adds a great silhouette and flatters my figure.
It hugs at all the right places, has super warm pockets and a luxurious fur hood!

Absolutely love this coat!

This mission further supports the notion that the fashion industry are still not catering to the curvy petites...Image result for One day someday

A hugh thank you to (@marksandspencer)

Petite & Curvy: Jeans

Image result for skinny jeans meme

I've been shopping for a pair of plain black jeans for about 6 months, yes 6 months!
Why...because it seems since everyone went "Skinny", "SuperSkinny" and 'Might as well wear tights or leggings' jeans in almost every shop, it's almost impossible to find the classic straight cut or even slim fit jeans when you're petite and curvy...I mean it's hard enough!

Yes, I know they're 'on trend' and yes I know the majority of people like the 'I can't breathe' look but what about the rest of us?
Do we not buy jeans too?
Personally I do not appreciate the skinny or super skinny jean. I think they make my legs look like turkey drummers.

Nice thick thighs, with a small waist and small calves is not a great look in the skinny jean...for me. Not flattering, not happening!

I mean come on, these look like leggings or jeggings on me and they show....everything! If you get my drift lol & why do they need to hug my ankles, let them breathe too!

Please can we bring these back fashion industry....please!?...
This may be the perfect opportunity to go Vintage shopping...hmmm
