Culture: Zendaya Coleman's Poise And Grace

Over the weekend The 87th Academy Awards ceremony, and all the Hollywood stars came out in droves, some dressed up to the nines and some not so much.
As usual there is news coverage worldwide and there are shows dedicated to red carpet fashion (One I’m sure many of us are familiar with) Fashion Police; which was made popular staring the Late Joan Rivers as the lead host. The show is known for its no holds barred commentary of peoples fashion choices and in particular, everyone knows how Joan was. However at the recent 87th Oscars, the beautiful and talented actress, singer and dancer Zendaya Coleman (yes I am kind of a fan, and watch her Disney show as an adult if it comes on) looked stunning as she took to the Red carpet wearing a beautiful nude gown and faux dreadlocks, only for one of the Fashion Police’ hosts Giuliana Rancic to make comments that the dreads probably smelt like “patchouli oil and weed”.
In whatever way or context these comments were meant, it is quite obvious to me and many others including Zendaya, this generalised statement was highly offensive and uncalled for.
I was so pleased to see Zendaya take it upon her 18 year old shoulders to stand up for herself and others, stereotyped by the comments made by Giuliana (who I think was trying to fill Joan’s shoes). Not only did she respond with class and maturity beyond her 18 years, but took time to educate instead of offending in kind.

See how it all unfurled below:

Guiliana's Comments:

Zendaya's 1st Statement following the comments:

Guilianas "apology":

Zendaya' response to Guiliana's apology:

I am just glad that Zendaya was able to handle the situation with all the class and humility she did, because it wouldn't have been me. Well done girl.

Cool Link-BlackBoysCan

The National Black Boys Can Association, a community led organisation, has risen up in direct response to this challenge. It is a proactive, action-oriented organisation that aims to provide black boys with educational opportunity, valuable life skills, and the self-esteem, confidence and determination to succeed. All these qualities are essential if they are to overcome disadvantage and make the most of their formative and adult years.

Fashion: Casual Nautical lookbook

***Casual nautical lookbook***

Today was one of those days where the braids need doing and you just can’t be bothered to get dressed.
That being said, laziness is no reason to look a mess so I threw some pieces together and hey presto...we have a Nautical lookbook.
First I battled with the poppers to do up my navy striped bodysuit (someone please come up with a better way to secure these things)
Then I added myblue slim fit jeans and a navy boyfriend cardigan.
I thought I was done but I looked in the mirror and had that‘Popping to the shop’ look going on, so I added my medium size hoop earrings, a blue printed headscarf and pulled it all together with red matt lipstick, red nails polish, a fab red bag and some plain biker boots.

I hope you like…

Fitness & Lifestyle: 10 Minute Booty Shaking Waist Workout

Last week I started a new healthy lifestyle journey, and my mum brought me to the attention of the these mini workouts on YouTube.

This one is the '10 Minute Booty Shaking Waist Workout' by Tiffany Rothe. At first I thought it would be a load of rubbish because it was only 10 minutes. What could you possibly do in 10 minutes I wondered. So I gave it a go. Hmm this is funny I  thought. Funny because I felt silly doing the moves, and also because I didn't feel like I was working out one bit. This is too good to be true I kept on saying and went on about my day. When I woke up the next day I didn't feel anything, but it wasn't until the day after that I started to feel like I had a proper core workout.

These videos are fun, with familiar music, moves that make you feel like a silly billy, and are good for those of us that hate the gym (Guilty), those of us that haven't worked out in a long while/don't have the  ability to work out for extended periods of time or simply those of us who just don't have the time.

I've decided that I'm going to continue the video and try out some of the other clips ans mini clips Tiffany has on her channel and see if it really works.

I've just done it again, and have seen some more recent ones to try, so give it a go and let me know how you get on.

For more Tiffany Rothe Workouts, check her out on YouTube.

Beauty: Nails Nails Nails

As I've said before, I don't need a season or a reason, so if I want to wear aqua nail polish when its -2 degrees outside, I will.

That being said, as I was browsing in one of my favorite places - Superdrug - its not called drug for no reason, I came across these three beautiful colours. I love almost every Barry M shade, and I had wanted the Orchid previously, but never got round to picking it up.

Of course one can hardly ever go into Superdrug for what one went in for, and the deals are always sooo good. So two I picked up my Orchid (centre) from the Silk collection, and then the two the shades from the Aquarium Collection (Arabian - Left and Pacfic - right) started talking to me. Who am I to ignore them right?

Why not head over to Superdrug for more Barry M and other fab polishes and products.

Fashion: Plus Size Steals - The Coat Edit

Everyone loves a sale, am I right? Yes, Yes I am. That’s why since Christmas I have been on the lookout for the best of the sales. One place that has really good sales (they really are amazing), not just in general, but in their Plus size range is New Look.

I ordered my first set of clothes in December for my Christmas/Birthday and in my haul was this lovely boyfriend coat from the Inspire range for £20.00, in a blue (my favourite colour) green and white check pattern; so I thought why not move away from my usual black. When the coat arrived it was good quality a nice fit and had nice neat popper fastenings. The coat is no longer available so I have included a similar coat for illustration purposes. This particular coat is still available in regular and tall sizes section for £25.00

Next I saw the Soft Brushed Coat this comes in three colours, black camel and a mint/jade, and although I am dying for a camel coat, this isn't the one. So I went for my go-to clothing shade, and I love it. It’s so smooth and soft, and I have all these ideas of how I’m going to dress it up and down. My colleague called it a ‘hit-man’ jacket haha.

Third and finally came my Black Check Collared Long-line Coat on sale for £25.00. This one was LOVE at first sight, but I didn’t go with my gut and buy the bloody thing. I ummm’d, and I ahhh’d until my size ran out; soon after I saw it on someone on the bus and it looked so good. What I hadn't noticed before was the leather look piping on the pockets. I was gutted.

It must have been God given or Heaven sent (a little dramatic I know) but this week while I was busy ‘working’ I saw the coat come up in one of those annoying ad thingys at the side of my personal email window. I clicked on it clinging on to faith; Lo and behold my size was there, Hallelujah!!! I ordered that baby up straight away with next day delivery just to make sure.

When it arrived, I didn't regret it. It fits so well and the material is really good quality. Out of the three I like this fit best and I can’t wait for the weather to warm up slightly so I can actually make the most of my coats in public. I don’t care that these coats are probably going to be considered last season by the time I get to wear them, because honey I don’t need a season, wear what I want because I want.

Anyway I encourage you to take a look at the New Look sales (and get impulsive like me), you might find some steals on there.

Beauty: Orange Beauty

My favourite orange cosmetics…
Orange hasn’t always been a popular colour in the make-up and beauty industries but in recent years orange has come a long way. Orange lipstick, nail polish and eye shadows are all now quite popular picks for any beauty collection.
Yes! Orange was a ‘Trend’ during 2014 but as far as I am concerned Orange is always a trend :-D!

On the runway….
