Flashback: Usher 'My Way' Album (Sept 1997, LaFace)

Ok so I’ma take it back, waayyy back, back into time….

As I sit at work “working” I decided to listen to one of my old  favourite albums ‘8701’, as one of the tracks ‘’How Do I Say’ has been in my head for the last 2 days or so. Then I had little had a flashback moment, remembering the predecessor album ‘My Way’. How can I forget ‘My Way’? I can wholeheartedly say that this is in fact my favourite Usher album of all time (although I must confess, I stopped listening after his 4th studio album ‘Confessions’).

As an 11 year old girl I remember having the biggest crush on Usher, since seeing him in the ‘You Make Me Wanna’ video,*drools*. I had no business crushing at 11, but that’s neither here nor there lol. I can even remember where I was the day my mum decided to surprise me with the album (thanks Mum).

Listening to the album has brought back so many memories (yes I am listening a second time as I type). I always associate music with memories, I have a memory for almost every song I listen to; happy, sad, good, bad or indifferent. ‘My Way’ is ALL good and brings me back to a time when everything was completely carefree, and I didnt completely understand what the naughty bits in songs were. Hearing this album today makes me so happy; featuring songs like ‘Slow Jam’ featuring Monica, and ‘Bedtime’ which are so beautiful; ‘Nice And Slow’ and ‘I Will’ the straight up sexy tracks, then ‘My Way’, ‘Come Back’ and ‘Just Like Me’ that have made me remember how much of a “rapper” I was/am - I got skills yo!

This post is a little long but, I just had a moment of deep nostalgia and couldn't help it.

What happened to Usher, and what happened to R&B period? Come back to us Usher, we loved youuuuu!
