4 Real Tho: Nicki Minaj Shouldn't Have Used Malcolm X's Image For 'Artwork'

Not even a full 24 hours after I published a blog entry quoting one of my favourite people, is his image misappropriated by the likes of Nicki Minaj aka Deliberately self styled Hottentot Venus Of The 21st Century, who thought it was okay to present this BullSh*t.

As Alvin Blanco over at Hip Hop Wired so eloquently put it when discussing the matter; "Juxtaposting the words "Lookin Ass Ni**a anywhere near the likeness of a man who is an icon and hero to many African-Americans, and progressive people in general, is uncomfortable."

Not only is it uncomfortable but it is just damn disrespectful!

When was the last time we've seen European's, Indigenous Americans, Asians, Arabs or Polynesians use the images or likeness of their leader's/hero's next to a derogatory racial slur??? I'll sit and wait for an answer...

For whatever reason, in the last 25 years specifically, a larger percentage of Black artist's in the music/entertainment industries are fine carrying on with tom foolery and the degradation of  Our Culture and IT IS NOT OK. In the last two years alone We have had Lil' Wayne likening the heinous murder of Emmett Till to a sex act, Jay Z taking shot's at Civil Rights Activist Harry Belafonte and Russell Simmon's using the sexual exploitation of the Courageous Harriet Tubman for comedy.

After everything We have survived (and are still fighting against) why not use given platforms to Respect, Acknowledge, Appreciate and Pay Homage to Our Elders while celebrating Our History, UPLIFTING the Diaspora and wearing Our achievements through the ages, as Badges Of Honour???
