Cool Link: Black History & HM Government Petition

Yesterday a friend of mine sent me the link for this HM Government E-Petition which needs 100,000 online signatures in order for Black History to be taught in UK Primary schools as a permanent part of the curriculum.

While I think it is a good idea that is LONG overdue, my main concern and hope is that if or when the petition is successful, mainstream school lessons will expand beyond the Transatlantic Slave Trade and The Civil Rights Movement because those subjects - while essential to Our story - are only a part of Our rich and extensive history; not all of it. Therefore it would also be a bonus IMHO if there were Black teachers with a broad knowledge about the many chapters of Our Journey from Ancient & Progressive African Civilisations to present day Scientists and Astronauts!

The deadline for this petition is 15th February 2015 so please sign it and pass it on;

We DO have Power and should use it for the causes that matter!
