Originally airing on Friday 5th September (and initially a show I was going to skip) Piers Morgan's Life Stories with Alesha Dixon was surprisingly pretty good.
Aside from the fact Mis-Teeq were the hottest Black Girl group in the UK about a decade ago, I never knew anything about them beyond the music but when they disbanded, it was Alesha who became the breakout star (which was a significant turn from the norm given, that it's usually the lead vocalists who go on to surpass their former group members) and has managed to maintain a successful career ever since by wearing multiple hats.
In her sit down with Piers, Alesha was very open about her personal life as she discussed the domestic violence her mother suffered, racist bullying at school, her strained relationship with her father, the breakdown of her marriage and how she felt about her career comeback, all while serving nothing but realness.
Her story overall, is an inspiring one and it's nice to see that she has now regained a positive balance of both personal and professional happiness! In regards to the former, I hope her man puts a ring on it and in regards to the latter, she should definitely be commended on being a positive representation of Women of Colour on TV.
For anyone who missed it, there are still 26 days left to watch it on ITV Player;
